I am an experienced Chartered Quantity Surveyor with considerable post qualification Client-side construction and engineering procurement, contract management and dispute resolution experience gained over a period of more than 45 years both in the United Kingdom and overseas.  I am a member of ARBRIX and the Society of Construction Law.

I accept appointment and nomination as Arbitrator, Adjudicator, Mediator, Dispute Board Member and in Expert Determination and Early Neutral Evaluation in connection with property, construction and engineering and professional negligence matters as well as in general commercial contracts.  Since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, I have applied my skills and experience in the field of dispute avoidance.  Acting as a Conciliator, I am able to assist Parties to assess the impacts of Covid-19 on their projects and structure new agreements that avoid unnecessary disputes and facilitate progress on projects.

I operate throughout the UK and overseas.  I provide forensic quantity surveying services to the legal profession and clients by invitation. I am currently working on a project to Restate Quantity Surveying principles in the post Covid-19 climate as a guide to best practice; something I feel that has been lost to the profession in recent years.

Chief Executive Officer / Equa LPM

Equa LPM is a multi-disciplinary, cross professional, association of building and legal practitioners established to promote and deliver best practice and professional excellence in construction law through product development, consultancy services, training and related activities.  As Chief Executive Officer, I am responsible for directing the development of our key product range.  This includes Zumfix, an application to regularise the preparation and assessment of applications for payment to minimise the incidence of disputes; VOR, software for expert witnesses needing to analyse construction costs of all kinds and ODIN the legal project management methodology for lawyers.

Chair / Legal Project Management Club

 2016 - Current

I am the founder and current Chairman of the Legal Project Management Club (LPMC).  LPMC is an unincorporated association whose aim is to bring together legal project managers and legal process managers in a forum whereby knowledge and practice may be freely exchanged.  From my years of experience as construction project manager, I have a particular interest in the competencies required to be a successful project manager as well as the process of managing.  The ultimate aim of LPMC is to become the "Association for Legal Project Managers".
