Beckwith Mediation is a bespoke family owned and operated organisation serving Clients throughout England and Wales, predominantly in the construction, property and environmental management sectors.
Our principal activities revolve around commercial contract activity and dispute avoidance and resolution services. Additionally, we provide project management, contract management, procurement and management consultancy services.
Most of our work comes from personal recommendation - we don't list ourselves on popular websites or panels of mediators -we are specialists and we are discrete.
We operate as a virtual business and we travel to where the work requires us to be. Our home base is in London but we can also be found in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Wiltshire and Kent.
We maintain a private cloud system for ease of access to our files yet ensure complete client confidentiality. Our systems include a community web site for our mediators and others interested in dispute avoidance and resolution, a help desk system and knowledge base, an on-line learning environment - even a virtual mediation court. If you'd like to know more then just ask us for an invitation to look around.
Our consultants, neutrals and mediators are drawn from a variety of professions including chartered surveyors, barristers, solicitors and the property and commercial world.
We are experienced in many sectors and work on matters and contracts of all sizes and value. The smallest value mediation we have undertaken was just £2,400 but the issues involved there were just as important to the parties as the most recent $333,000,000 development we have been advising upon.
Many of our competitors talk dispute avoidance but in fact deliver nothing more than routine project management services whilst others talk provide only dispute resolution services. We believe dispute avoidance starts with good contract management founded in effective risk allocation but employing methods to resolve issues before they become disputes. That's why we developed the DART Protocol (and accompanying software) . Our rules for effective dispute avoidance are simple, easy for project participants to apply and work if they are adhered to. They are:
- Identify and evaluate project risks;
- Resolve issues within the project environment so far as possible;
- Give timely notices;
- Evaluate change before instructing variations;
- Confront conflict early and constructively.
